"If you don't like it, you can paint over it!"

Yesterday i went to the Banksy exhibition in Bristol, it was absolutely brilliant. The whole concepts and ideas behind his work are so simple you cant believe it hasn't been done before. I loved all the mixed media, and although i am unsure of whether he painted/created all of the work himself or if it was just his vision, he is ridiculously talented. In one of the main rooms they had created a zoo that had a number of animatronic installations that included - a rabbit filing it's nails wearing lipstick and blusher, a chicken in a coop looking over it's chicks that were actually chicken nuggets that were dunking themselves in a ketchup sashay, and a CCTV camera that was watching over its nest of baby CCTV cameras. The modern Greek statues were brilliant too, they had thongs and designer sunglasses with McDonald's wrappers scatted everywhere. I would highly recommend the exhibition to anyone who wants to see some controversial, thought provoking, well executed art with a bit of humour mixed in. (Pictures To Come!!)

I also really enjoyed going on a road trip up to Bristol and spending the say with my two close friends Charlie & Sari, singing along to radio whilst driving up the motor way makes me smile.

Today i went to a Spinone hunting and retrieving open day with my family, just to have a wander around and see some lovely dogs in the sunshine. I fell in love with the most gorgeous puppy, who didn't do anything that he was told to do, he just wanted to lie on his back and have his tummy rubbed. I went to see my grandparents in the afternoon, and then went shopping in Marks & Spencer's on the way home and bought a gorgeous pair of patent leather peep toe wedges, so cute and retro.

This evening i spoke to my cousin Rachel on i chat, and blew kisses to my one month old niece Evie, had some rose in the garden and watched Glastonbury on TV, whilst wishing i was actually there. Must make a conscious effort to see more live music.

"You Say We've Got Nothing In Common"

Today i watched "Breakfast At Tiffany's", i love watching old movies in the afternoon, it feels like such a luxury. I think it's a good film, although i hate how popular it is, it seems every young woman's favourite film is either "The Wizard Of Oz" or "Breakfast At Tiffany's", and there are hundreds of people parading around handbags with pictures of Audrey Hepburn on, it kind of cheapens it, in my opinion. I loved the whole feel of it though, she is so utterly charming and authentically ditsy. Who wouldn't want to eat pastries on the streets of New York in a Givenchy gown, have a handsome neighbour climb through your window or kiss in the rain.

I also went to the pet shop today to pick up some essentials and fell in love with a houndstooth cat bed, that i couldn't quite justify buying. I'm now starting to regret it! Jeffery certainly deserves to sleep in style, i bet Holly Golightly would have bought Cat the bed without worrying if she had enough money for lunch tomorrow.

Introduction

My name is Lexy, i'm 23 years old. I love all things Japanese, sitting on the floor of bookshops, finding websites that make hand made jewellery, listening to Quentin Tarantino, writing lyrics on everything, photography, neeeewww schuuhs, buying magazines (esp. Nylon), film noir, pin-up girls, tomato ketchup, making things for my friends, mix tapes, 1920's, 30's, 50's and 70's, tattoos, receiving packages, burlesque (esp. Immodesty Blaize), large jewellery, pick n mix, fashion, welsh accents, waiting for movies to be released, dwarf lop rabbits, and cake.

I have been suffering from depression for over 4 years now, i guess this blog is a chance for me to post all of the things that make me realise that life is beautiful.
